WHY THIS WEB SITE

65% of us are lactose intolerant—myself among them. A few years ago, I realized the link between my dairy intake and some troublesome symptoms: congestion, weight gain, and stomach discomfort. Since then, I have severely limited the dairy in my diet. In the course of making this shift, I began preparing, purchasing, and learning about plant-based milk alternatives, which led to my writing The New Milks and creating this Web site. Through this site, I want to share the benefits of plant-based milks, build a community around them, and advocate for dairy-free milk alternatives at restaurants, schools, hotels, and more. Whether you are lactose intolerant or allergic to dairy; adhere to a vegan, kosher, paleo, low-sugar, or low-cholesterol diet; or just love to work with new ingredients in the kitchen, I hope you’ll join me!

AbOUT ME

Other than aiming to popularize dairy-free milks, I’m the author of several books: The New Milks, Mug Meals, Meatless All Day, Year-Round Slow Cooker, William-Sonoma New Flavors for Salads, and Tasting Club. I’m also a writer/recipe creator, whose work has appeared in Clean Eating, Parents, Every Day with Rachael Ray, Weight Watchers, and more. To complement my content creation, I paint and photograph still lifes; the former are available at my ArtFinder shop.
